Overview
I teed off at Honeybrook Golf Club early on Saturday morning in August 2025 — 7:03 a.m. sharp. We played from the white tees (6,031 yards, 68.3/123). I was out there with my boy Mike, and we got paired with a husband-and-wife duo playing their own little scramble. The weather couldn’t have been better — cool, clear, with just a little morning dew. I ended up shooting 81, and Mike shot his career-best 85, so vibes were high all around.
Course Conditions
The course looked beautiful from start to finish. The greens, while visually in great shape with ball marks repaired, were a little inconsistent. Some were soft and held shots nicely, while others were firm and quick. Fairways were damp and soft from the morning dew, which made them lush but also a bit tricky for me — I was taking some big divots and chunking shots (definitely a skill issue on my end). Tee boxes were excellent, level, filled in, and well-maintained. Bunkers had good, soft sand and were totally playable.
Playability & Design
Honeybrook is a really fun layout. There’s a mix of everything: tree trouble, water hazards, thick rough, and a couple of holes that let you exhale and just swing freely. Elevation changes keep things interesting, and the course makes you think — plenty of spots where you’re deciding between playing it safe or taking on a risk. There are even a couple of drivable par 4s, and I managed to birdie both of them, which definitely boosted my opinion.
The only downside: the par-5 4th hole was closed due to a land dispute with a property owner, so we only got to play 17 holes. Still, the variety and challenge throughout the rest of the course made up for it. Pace of play was about 4 hours, which felt fine — just a few short waits on the front nine but nothing frustrating.
Amenities & Practice Facilities
The practice setup at Honeybrook is legit. Full driving range, plus putting and chipping greens — plenty to get dialed in before the round. The pro shop was a good size and had everything you’d need, from clubs and balls to apparel. The bar and restaurant were also excellent. I tried their PBJ & bacon sandwich, which they said was inspired by Merion — and yes, it was good.
Value
I paid $85 for my round, and honestly, I think that’s worth it for what Honeybrook offers. Between the conditions, variety, and amenities, it’s right on the money — especially compared to what I’d pay for something lower-quality closer to home. Even with the 4th hole being closed, I felt like I got my money’s worth.
Final Thoughts
Honeybrook is a course that’s worth the trip. Scenic, challenging, and well-maintained, it’s got enough variety to keep you on your toes but still mixes in some scoring opportunities. Add in a great practice facility, solid pro shop, and a fun clubhouse, and it’s the kind of place you’ll want to play again.
